Below you will find some of the most frequently asked questions and our answers to them. We are available to answer any question you may have concerning the services we offer. Information can also be found on the internet by typing "hydromulch" into your favorite web search engine.
Hydromulching (or hydroseeding) is a planting process which utilizes an applied slurry of water, seed and a wood fiber mulch. The slurry contains the necessary vitamins and fertilizers needed to boost the germination of the grass seed. Hydromulching is significantly cheaper than sod and grass growth occurs much quicker than just spreading grass seed. The wood fiber mulch ensures the seeds stay in place during watering and normal rain showers and helps the seeds retain needed moisture for germination.
Pricing is wholly dependent upon the size of the area and the type of grass seed used. Typically a customer can expect to see savings up to 60% less than a comparable sod solution. Contact us for a free quote.
The answer to this question is dependant upon the type of grass seed used in hydromulching. You can have seed germination at the end of week one and grass growing in under 2 weeks. You can realistically expect to be mowing grass in 3 to 4 weeks.
There are several types of grass seed to choose from and our trained associates will cover each type and we will recommend the one best suited for your application need. Bahia, Common Bermuda, Hybrid Bermuda, Centipede, Zoysia, German Millet, Fescue and Rye are all available. Each type of seed has a different germination period and some are only suitable for a specific application.
When applied by a trained application specialist the seeds will stay in place even when it rains. Hydromulching has been used for decades, even on severe slopes.
The answer to this question is a simple "yes" but it is not recommended. Since the hydromulch slurry contains vitamins and fertilizers the existing weeds and grasses will continue to grow. Our recommendation for an established yard is to kill all weeds and grasses using a commercially available weed/grass killer prior to hydromulching.
Water, Water, Water!. It is up to homeowner to provide needed moisture through watering. While the hydromulch application will hold in moisture longer than normal you will still need to water your new lawn. Our application specialist will go over the specifics on watering your new lawn at the completion of the job.
Hydromulching will produce lawns that are almost weed free. While we apply a weed free application, there are almost always weed seeds present in your soil, and when the fertilizers are applied they could sprout.
